Isaac Orr: Guilty as Charged (Desmog’s ‘Climate Denier Spotlight’ introduces new talent)

MasterResource has previously highlighted individuals “from the Climate Disinformation Database” of Desmog Blog where the in-their-own-words ‘expose’ revealed solid thinking and good deeds.

I am profiled, accurately but incompletely (please update). I thanked them too: DeSmog Blog: Guilty as Charged (‘hit’ profile looks good to me).

MasterResource also did “guilty as charged” posts defending Derrick Hollie, founder of Reaching America, and leading scientist John Christy. If fact, almost everyone on DeSmog’s list of deplorables should feel proud to read their profiles and deeds.

Desmog’s Climate Disinformation Database advertises itself as “where you can search and browse our extensive research on the individuals and organizations that have helped to delay and distract the public and our elected leaders from taking needed action to reduce greenhouse gas pollution and fight global warming.” Their A – Z list is huge and growing, happily. If Desmog had a Green New Deal hit list, it would be so overwhelmed that the project might go out of business!

Isaac Orr: A Rising New Talent

The latest subject of the DeSmog spotlight is Isaac Orr, policy fellow at Center of the American Experiment and also associated with the Heartland Institute. DeSmog’s profile, in fact, introduces many of us to a rising young talent of the energy/climate realism school.

DeSmog’s profile of Orr begins with this executive summary:

Isaac Orr is a former research fellow for energy and environment policy at the climate science-denying Heartland Institute. He currently works as a policy fellow at the Center of the American Experiment, a Minnesota-based right-wing think tank with Koch ties where he recently attacked Minnesota’s new clean car standards. According to Orr, Americans shouldn’t worry about climate change, renewable energy subsidies must be eliminated, fracking cleans the air, the U.S. was right to withdraw from the Paris agreement, and the health consequences of fracking are “fabricated.” His Twitter handle is @TheFrackingGuy.

Orr does not like government subsidies that try to make the uneconomic economic. He wants a free free market where consumers choose and taxpayers are kept neutral. He applies the same logic to the transportation market as he does to the industrial and power generation markets. He is young and talented. And in his own words:

I grew up on a dairy farm, and I want to preserve rural America, and rural American values. Along with agriculture, I am fascinated by geology, mining, groundwater, and other environmental issues.
