Heath Effects from Industrial Wind: Australian Testimony (Part I: Robert McMurtry)

By Sherri Lange -- August 5, 2015 1 Comment

“I have no kind words for people who attempt to trivialise what my family and I have tolerated since a large wind farm started operating near us. We don’t see them from our home (trees), and we rarely hear them but the infrasonic emissions incite a repeating, subtle noise and vibration in our home. Used to live across from a truck yard and it did not bother me, but I cannot ignore ringing ears, severe dizziness, pressure in head, difficulty concentrating and hypertension…. We need protection just the same as any person deserves.”

– Wind victim, Mike Jankowski, in response to an article summarizing the Senate Hearings in Austalia.

Considerable evidence of negative effects to health was recorded during the Australian Senate’s call for testimonies and evidence to its Select Committee on Wind Turbines which has accumulated 471 submissions from individuals and organizations around the world, many with lengthy additions, and attachments.…

Big Wind’s Big Barriers (examining DOE’s fantasy scenario for a faulty technology)

By -- June 15, 2015 1 Comment

“The output of DOE’s models are easy to promote, but reality paints a very different picture. DOE’s Vision assumes 7 GW of wind built per year between 2014 and 2020, followed by 12 gigawatts per year between 2020 and 2030, and 17 GW every year after until 2050. The Agency points to the progress since 2009 as proof that a more aggressive wind roll-out is possible. But in many ways, the success of wind in those years is the very reason wind development will not grow, but continue to slow.

The Department of Energy’s Wind Vision report released this March details a scenario where 10% of the United States’ end-use demand can be met with wind power by 2020, 20% by 2030, and 35% by 2050. [1] Achieving these milestones would be challenging, says DOE, but doable … provided the right policies are maintained (i.e.…

Wind Power Mortality: Submission from World Council for Nature to Australian Senate

By Mark Duchamp -- June 3, 2015 3 Comments

“It is my duty, as President of the World Council for Nature, to bring to your attention the true extent of the carnage which is taking place at wind farms around the world, including in Australia. The deception being staged by consultants in order to fool people and their governments will have unfathomed consequences for wildlife, biodiversity, natural habitats, and the health of forests and agriculture. We are facing widespread corrupt behavior, which is putting private interests ahead of the common good.”

Distinguished Senators of the Commonwealth of Australia:

Australian members of our organisation have complained to us that mortality predictions being used in Australia to assess the impacts of wind turbines on birds and bats are minimised to a level that thoroughly misleads decision makers. To wit, in a widely used report prepared for the Australian Government by consultant Biosis Research Pty Ltd, we read (p.…

Industrial Wind: A Net Loser, Economically, Environmentally, Technically, Civilly

By Mary Kay Barton -- May 7, 2015 3 Comments

Industrial wind is a net loser, economically, environmentally, technically and civilly. Let’s examine how.

Economically:

New York State has some of the highest electricity rates in the U.S., a whopping 53 percent above the national average, in large part due to throwing billions of taxpayer and ratepayer dollars into the wind. High electricity costs drive people and businesses out and ultimately hurt the poor the most.

Why destroy entire towns, when just one 450 megawatt gas-fired combined cycle generating unit located at New York City (where the power is needed in New York state) operating at only 60 percent of capacity, would provide more electricity than all of the wind factories in the state combined — at about a quarter of the capital costs, and without all the negative civil, economic, environmental, human health and property value impacts of industrial wind factories, or all the additional transmission lines to New York City.…
